Bradford Guardian4.5 3D Black and Blue G10 Sabre Ground Nimbus DLC CPM-3V

The Guardian4.5 from Bradford Knives is a custom fixed blade designed for outdoor, Bushcraft use. The G4.5 has was designed to remove the iconic Bradford finger choil, replacing it with a full, 3D contoured handle that provides a variety of comfortable grip options This version comes in tough, wear resistant CPM-3V tool steel, a favorite among outdoor enthusiasts with Bradford’s “Nimbus” finish and micro-textured 3D Black and Blue G10.

Blade: Full tang construction paired with sabre ground, ultra tough CPM-3V tool steel makes the Guardian4.5 a durable and reliable cutting tool perfect for serious outdoor use. The high height sabre grind offer a solid balance of slicing performance and durability and leaves the tip strong enough for heavier work like drilling for fire boards. Black DLC or “Diamond Like Carbon” coating has been heavily tumbled to create the “Nimbus” finish that blends the non-reflective, wear and corrosion resistant properties of DLC with the rugged look of a stone wash. The Nimbus finish does add some corrosion resistance but not as much as a full DLC coating.

Handle: Black and Blue G10 handle scales are 3D sculpted with a smaller flare at the front for security in a variety of grips. No choil on this one but an index cutout creates an integral guard which pairs with aggressive spine jimping to keep the hand safe from the blade in use. A big palm swell in the center fills the hand and offers ergonomic comfort in multiple grips. A big flare at the pommel locks the hand in still offering a nice, comfortable grip for even XL hands. The micro textured handle finish enhances traction and feels great. At the very end of the handle is a generous hole for lanyard attachment. The scales are secured to the tang via 416 stainless custom fasteners heat treated to 40 Rc and black oxide finished.

The brown leather sheath with insert provided completes the package as a great vertical carry system with a fold over belt loop.

CPM-3V: is a high carbon alloy steel that extremely tough and has enough chromium to have some corrosion resistance. However, care is required to prevent corrosion. The edge can be ground thin as it is tough enough to support a fine edge. 3V delivers the highest level of toughness while maintaining good edge retention.
