Based on Andrew Demko’s patented original design, the full production AD-15 from Cold Steel is an innovative, ergonomic and user-friendly tactical folder utilizing Demko’s Scorpion Lock. Ambidextrous and one-hand operation make this a versatile folder while the saber ground spear point blade and Scorpion Lock construction deliver unfailing performance. This version comes with Black G10 scales and lock bar and a satin finished CPM S35VN blade.

Blade: The blade of the AD-15 is made from satin finished CPM-S35VN and equipped with a saber grind that optimizes strength while delivering solid slicing performance thanks the tall blade height. The drop point blade has a false edge upper swedge running almost the full length of the blade for enhanced piercing. Everything is fully ambidextrous thanks to a set of dual thumb studs.

Handle: The bottom of the handle is constructed with stainless steel liners supporting high traction, Black G10 scales. The upper portion of the handle, or the yoke, forms the Scorpion Lock, a black hard anodized, 3D-machined 6061 aluminum billet that includes an integral back spacer concealing a strong compression spring. Operation is simple: push the thumb stud to overcome the tension of the lock to open and to close simply lift the bar out of the blade tang and close. Once you get the feel of it one-hand operation is smooth and easy. When open the lock is supported by the strength of the users grip making it practically immune to failure.

CPM S35VN: was designed to offer improved toughness over CPM S30V. It is also easier to machine and polish than CPM S30V. The inclusion of Niobium allows for the formation of niobium carbides along with vanadium and chromium carbides. Substituting some niobium carbides for vanadium carbides makes CPM S35VN about 15-20% tougher than CPM S30V without any loss of wear resistance. CPM S35VN’s improved toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping.
