Another great collaboration between Ethan Becker and KaBar knives, the BK18 builds off of the popular and ergonomic BK16 handle platform but offers a more robust, tactical Harpoon style blade that lends itself to more tactical use while still being functional for utility tasks. Both the 1095 Cro-Van blade and Ultramid polymer handles are a discreet tan color with a matching MOLLE compatible Celcon polymer sheath and black nylon drop loop completing the package.
Brand new, direct from Kabar Knives, USA.
Blade:Â Made from time tested, full tang 1095 Cro Van carbon steel, the BK18 has a wide, harpoon style blade that is ready for some serious use. A high saber grind offers a balance of good durability and slicing performance with plenty of belly. Tapering the blade to a fine point for piercing, the harpoon swedge enhances the tip strength for tactical use. A short section of jimping behind the swedge adds some traction while the durable tan powder coat finish delivers a discreet, non-reflective and corrosion resistant finish.
Handle:Â Contoured polymer handles are attached to the full tang via stainless steel hardware and offer a lightweight, durable and weather resistant handle that is both comfortable and secure in multiple grip positions. An exposed portion of the tang can be used for improvised striking or hammering while a milled hole allows for lanyard attachment.
Sheath:Â Carries via a rugged, MOLLE compatible, molded polymer sheath with nylon drop loop.
1095 Cro Van:Â Based on 1095 carbon steel with the addition of small amounts of Vanadium, Molybdenium, Nickel and Chrome for improved wear resistance and toughness. Easy to sharpen, takes a fine edge, non-stainless and requires care to prevent corrosion.
