Brand new directly from Smith & Sons, USA.
Blade: Full tang, +3 mm thick D2 tool steel comes in a full flat grind for excellent slicing performance and durability with a drop point profile that serves well in a variety of tasks from food prep to fire building. Semi-stainless D2 combines moderate corrosion resistance and toughness with an aggressive, long wearing edge. The spine is a classy fine satin, while the grinds are heavily stonewashed to hide wear from use.
Handle: Flared brass pins securely attach the textured blue/black G10 handle scales to the full tang. Shaped and contoured for comfort, this handle is designed for extended use, with an index cutout and pommel swell for a secure grip and enhanced traction from the milled texture. An attached leather lanyard provides added security and grip in use.
Sheath: Carries via a right hand brown leather belt sheath.
D2 Tool Steel:Â Used as a die cutting steel since WW II, D2 offers a good combination of hardness and wear resistance with moderate toughness and stain resistance. High chromium content for a tool steel (10-13%) gives D2 better corrosion resistance than most high carbon steels.
