Major Gustavus Ferdinand von Tempsky commissioned a number of Bowie knives to outfit the irregular rangers under his command for fighting in the New Zealand bush in the mid-1800s. The SVORD Von Tempsky Golok embodies the spirit of this adventurer and handles every chopping task from brush clearing to defense. If you need a nearly unstoppable chopping tool this is it. This piece has a full tang blade of 8670 carbon steel, steel cross guard and Wenge wood handle scales.
Brand new, direct from SVORD Knives.
Blade:Â The Sheepsfoot like blade of the Golok gives it a full, ~7.5 mm thickness nearly the full length of the blade making for a stout and sturdy cutting tool. A satin finished convex edge offers powerful chopping performance with strop-friendly maintenance. Forge finished flats are practical and appealing.
Handle:Â Dark Wenge hardwood handle scales come attached via strong Corby bolts to the full tang topped with a steel s-guard offering added safety during use. A hole at the pommel allows lanyard attachment for added security.
Sheath: Carries via a leather drop loop belt sheath.
8670 Carbon Steel: Used for large, industrial circular saw blades, 8670 is a simple low-alloy carbon steel that takes a fine edge with high toughness. Low edge retention and corrosion resistance.
