TOPS Backwoods Skinner Coyote Tan Ulu Green Canvas Micarta Fixed Blade SKIN-01

Joshua Swanagon took inspiration from the native Alaskan Ulu when designing the Backwoods Skinner. Opting for a smaller blade for more control in tight spaces and a full size canted handle for enhanced ergonomics in use. The Backwoods Skinner is a compact cutting tool capable of handling skinning, food prep and light bushcrafting tasks and has a ‘parasite’ gut hook for added utility in game processing. The full tang carbon steel blade comes with a Coyote Tan powder coat and green canvas Micarta handle scales.

Blade: The sweeping belly delivers plenty of razor sharp cutting edge on the relatively compact blade with a short clip point and spine jimping for optimal control. A high saber grind offers strength for wood craft and solid performance for skinning and food prep work. A matte Coyote Tan powder coating helps prevent corrosion in use. 

Handle: Ovalized canvas Micarta scales on the canted handle provide a comfortable, ergonomic and high traction grip even when wet. Pull the lanyard and pin at the pommel end to access the ‘parasite’ gut hook housed inside the handle. This design enhances safety in carry and use and allows the gut hook to be used independently or in conjunction with the sheathed knife.

Sheath: Carries via a stitched leather snap sheath for neck or belt carry.

1095 Carbon Steel: A simple, extensively used carbon steel with low edge retention and corrosion resistance. Easy to sharpen to a fine edge, TOPS utilizes a differential heat treat (harder edge, softer spine) for better performance.
